About Us
What started as two trucks in 1972, founders Tim and Margaret O’Connor began U-Pak Disposals out of their family farm on Major Mackenzie Drive. Originally founded as a packing and moving company where containers were sent to people who needed help moving (You-Pack!), and then the containers were shipped to their destination. Tim discovered early on that most customers were using these containers as waste bins rather than moving bins. This realization prompted Tim to find ways to transport and dispose of this waste, eventually leading U-Pak into waste management.
Without knowing what the future would hold, Tim and Margaret expanded their fleet to over 200+ U-Pak vehicles, servicing locations across the Greater Toronto Area.
What We Do
U-Pak provides waste removal services across the GTA, transporting to the final destination site. Recycled material is sent to accredited Canadian recycling processors, while the remaining material designated as waste can be processed by U-Pak’s Emerald Energy from Waste facility, where waste is converted into renewable energy. Our process eliminates the issue of cross-border dumping and assures our environmentally aware partners that all their waste is handled within Canada, from “the cradle to the grave.”
Road to Zero Waste
U-Pak’s growth in the last 50 years has led to many accomplishments that venture beyond just waste management. Since our humble beginnings, U-Pak has found new innovate solutions for waste management. From repurposing bakery and organic waste to converting landfill bound waste into a renewable energy source, U-Pak will continue to be leader in the industry for a zero-waste future.
