Driver – Roll-Off (Full-time)
2 Night Shifts Available
Duties and Responsibilities
The Duties below include but are not limited to the following:
- Perform daily pre & post-trip inspections of assigned equipment. Document condition and submit the Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR)
- Responsible to prepare, load & transport large open-top waste and compactor containers to customer, disposal & transfer locations utilizing a company owned roll-off vehicle
- Safely operate vehicle in accordance with U-Pak rules, Ministry of Transportation requirements on commercial designated routes adhering to Occupational Health & Safety regulations and all local, provincial and federal laws at all times
- Clean-up loose trash off truck and/or ground around truck and container that spills during dumping process to maintain clean customer site and safety along roads and highways
- Clear waste from the packer blade and truck body on each landfill or transfer station run to ensure safe & productive equipment operation
- Partner with Dispatch & Route Supervisor to improve efficiencies, provide excellent customer service, identify unsafe situations or improvement opportunities & follow best practices
- Participate in scheduled training, briefings and meetings required by U-Pak or supervisors
- Utilize on-board electronic ticket system (FleetMind) to follow workflow, record work completion and service interruptions such as breakdowns or blocked bins
- Notify Route Supervisor immediately of any incidents, accidents, injuries or property damage
- Courteously interact with customers, co-workers and the public throughout the day
- Maintain and submit daily route/productivity sheet, and vehicle condition report (DVIR)
- Perform all duties as scheduled by the Route Supervisor or Dispatch and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer requirements
Working Conditions:
- Driving customer facilities, alleyways & high traffic roadways
- Occasionally operate in tight environments with overhead hazards
- Outdoors environment facing all weather conditions
- Time sensitive deliveries with deadlines & time pressures
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Insurable to operate a commercial vehicle
- Class D Ontario license with Z airbrake endorsement (AZ and asset)
- Two years work experience operating a commercial vehicle
- Highly skilled maneuvering and backing required
- Clean DVOR driver abstract over past 24 month period
- Able to lift up-to 60 lbs & work in outdoor inclement
- Strong work ethic with a passion to exceed customer expectations
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend daily assignments & complete reports

Driver – Front End (Full-time)

Duties and Responsibilities
The Duties below include but are not limited to the following:
- Perform daily pre & post-trip inspections of assigned equipment. Document condition and submit the Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR)
- Drives the front-end truck or rear-load truck along designated commercial routes to collect solid waste and transport to the landfill or transfer station for disposal.
- Open container enclosures or gates to access bins. When needed, roll 4 yard bins and/or 96 gallon totes into position for dumping
- Safely operate vehicle in accordance with U-Pak rules, Ministry of Transportation requirements on commercial designated routes adhering to Occupational Health & Safety regulations and all local, provincial and federal laws at all times

Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise a team of mechanics and mechanic apprentices
Help teach and guide other technicians while performing diagnostics and repairs
Work in a fast-paced environment while troubleshooting equipment issues
Plan and schedule work orders to align with shop priorities and preventative maintenance programs
Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade

Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic
Afternoon Shift – Mon. to Fri. 3pm – 11:30pm – Overtime Available
The Mechanic role is what helps keep the mechanic shop running. U-Pak is looking for someone who is dedicated, trustworthy and willing to learn. The Mechanic role is what helps keep the mechanic shop running. When it comes to the Waste industry, THERE’S ALWAYS GARBAGE and there will always be work, hence we have the ability to offer overtime pay. Times have changed, dealerships can be monotonous whereas UPak has a wide range of equipment to learn on and make the days go by feeling like you have learned and accomplished something. We mostly run Freightliners and Mack’s along with various yellow iron including CAT 950m loaders, excavators, backhoes and multiple forklifts. We are constantly expanding our fleet expanding within our forward thinking company. This is a job for applicants who want to increase their work experience in the heavy equipment industry and pave their way to becoming a fully licensed mechanic. - Maintain current PM’s and schedule future maintenance sessions

- Keep logs on work and issues using RTA and computer software
- Maintain company owned equipment and keep tools in neat and proper condition
- Assist in conducting pre and post vehicle inspections of equipment

- Follow and maintain all safety measures to according to U-Pak company policy and procedures
- Courteous interaction with fellow employees and supervisors.

Qualifications:
- Experience with heavy equipment vehicles
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicles

- Ability to handle various tools and heavy equipment (e.g. lift)
- Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents
- High school diploma is preferred
- Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is preferred

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Duties below include but are not limited to the following:
- Perform daily pre & post-trip inspections of assigned equipment. Document condition and submit the Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR)
- Transporting all commercial vehicles from the dealer to the yard and vice versa
- Coordinate with interior dock employees to ensure completed trailers are released from the dock.
- Backs trailers into designated loading/unloading dock doors and secures trailers.
- Safely operate vehicle in accordance with U-Pak rules, Ministry of Transportation requirements on commercial designated routes adhering to Occupational Health & Safety regulations and all local, provincial, and federal laws always
- Clean-up loose trash from the trailers and tractors
- Maintaining daily shunt log and required paperwork for trailer movements.
